Yep, this happened.
I never thought I'd get a "standard" humbucker going since I've never had any interest to dive into a market I mistook for being boring and lacking innovation - standard component humbuckers.
But here we are. Chris from JPTR FX fell in love with a custom wound neodymium based high output humbucker I did a couple of years back and asked me to investigate why exactly it works so well - with a lucky combination of components and technique I had created the ideal pickup for his taste. Hot, but not muddy - dynamic - crisp cleanup and all with a bit grunged up looks.
Super Distortion vibes with a modern touch - Super Nova.
He has been using it in his test setup and in his own vids for all this time and people have asked about it repeatedly so we agreed on a pilot run which sold out in a matter of hours - so this will become a series, exclusively selling on the JPTR FX homepage.
Plenty of sound demos here - look for the silver sparkle mosrite
Chris from JPTR FX describes it as follows:
The SUPER NOVA pickup offers a blend of vintage high-gain tones and modern versatility. Inspired by modified 70s super distortion pickups, it delivers a powerful, dynamic sound with a wide gain range.
Utilizing a neodymium magnet, it provides a high 15K output, enhancing sensitivity and responsiveness to playing dynamics. Perfectly compatible with driven tube amps, it offers a clean, balanced tone when the guitar volume is rolled down and a strong boost when cranked up. The pickup is pedal-friendly, retaining clarity and brightness without harshness, making it ideal for use with boost or fuzz pedals.
Designed with a slight vintage appearance to match well-played guitars, each unit comes pre-waxed and includes a 500k CTS potentiometer with a 1NF treble bleed for optimal performance.
