Omnia: The Next Generation of Pickups

Omnia: The Next Generation of Pickups

Hi fellow guitar enthusiasts,

Welcome to the very first post on my blog! I’m thrilled to introduce myself and share what’s happening with my exciting new venture.

I'm excited to take the leap and launch my own line of pickups. Let's dive into what I have in store.

I'll start off with my flagship model, the passive Omnia. This pickup has been my pride and joy, evolving through countless iterations thanks to a highly customized modular design. You might have seen earlier versions through Baguley Guitars, where I previously worked.

The latest Omnia revision features a sleek SLA-printed enclosure and is retrofit-compatible with standard 6-string humbuckers. As usual with my quad coil design, splitting the signal will be hum-inhibiting. It will feature a pin clip on the back side as known from EMG, Fishman etc., to fascilitate assembly.

The parallel voicing is the most open one and contrary to most conventional pickups it's not only possible with the Omnia, but also encouraged, if you like to access the full usable range.

Next on the horizon are several bass variants, including MM, P split-coil and EMG-style soapbars. After that, I’ll be developing active versions with some sophisticated filtering circuits and switchable voicings.

Some treats:

- some variants will feature switcheable resonant frequency settings, as well as low cuts for tight bridge chugs
- I'm spitballing a hybrid voicing between passive and the EMG style broad mid push.
- possibly dual resonance systems for bass pickups to get some upper mid clonk without losing clarity
- one ungabunga djent variant with all the twangy nastiness of modern tones. Yes, I need to do this.
- Possibly developing an active filter preamp in collaboration with some awesome people.

I'm also currently laying the ground work for 7 to 12 string guitar variants as well as 5 to 6 string basses and slanted options, but these will take some time.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights as I continue this journey. Thanks for joining me!

Cheers, Till
